The way you maintain your hair is based on the type of hair you have. Everyone cannot treat their hair the same since everyone's hair is a different texture, length, and density.
Shampooing is a task for everyone. Some more than others, but you must know what works for your hair. Coarse thicker hair you must shampoo less, over cleaning damages your hair, making it dry and brittle. The drier and coarse the hair is, the more full the hair shaft is. When hair is clean its full.
Try going as long as you can without shampooing until your hair gets oily, then you will know how often you should wash your hair.
Don't shampoo because you think you have to, but because you need to. You can condition it every time you get it wet or as necessary. When you exercise just know that sweat is water soluble and can be rinsed out with water. First, your scalp may get oily, and it will eventually adjust. but if you feel unclean you can shampoo the root only; while trying to find your balance where your hair feels good, healthy, moisturized, and you feel clean. Try this out you'll notice the difference.
Some coarser hair types cannot condition enough, so you must shampoo less, condition more and saturate your hair with emollient-based products. For fine hair, you must shampoo daily and refrain from conditioning it every time. You may also choose to only condition the ends. Sometimes when thin hair is too healthy it lays flat and limp. You may need to damage it a bit, get highlights, a perm, or even color, so it has a little bit of texture. The drier healthy hair is the more volume you'll get. So don't think healthy if you love volume. You cant have both smoothness and fullness you must pick one.
Stick to these tips and you'll have hair that both looks and feels healthy, along with getting the look you desire.
