This post is for all men and women who struggle with their natural hair. Whether it be with styling it, or simple everyday grooming. Your hair was made for you. You simply have to be patient and find what works for your hair and what doesn't.
I have a saying that I live by. If you love your hair, it will love you back!
If we took the time needed to care for our hair, growth wouldn't be an issue. Our problem for years is that we have grown accustomed to processing our natural hair. Each generation has been promoting relaxers since it was invented, and over time we've lost ourselves. Women and men around the world no longer know how to take care of their curls and coils, nor do they want to learn. I'm so excited to see so many Black women embracing their big beautiful curly, kinky, coily hair; but it does require even more maintenance than processed hair. But we tend to allow it to intimidate us. You should let it be free, and let it do what it wants, like the beauty you see here.

No matter what team you choose you can have healthy hair. But it takes work. Relaxed hair is not as much maintenance but your hair does need extra care since it has been compromised. But whether your hair is processed or natural, time and patience are needed. some women are fine with wash and go's, ponytails, and wraps. Their lives are the easiest. But those of us who like to change it up with heat: curls, silk presses, & blow dries; or protective styles like extensions, braids & other styles. We do experience growth while protecting our hair we also experience some breakage. So when you take your hair down you must give it a little more care. Growth was never the issue, its retaining length that we must master.
Maintaining healthy hair isn't as hard as it seems. Leave it to the professionals. Find a stylist that will have that patience for you, and will care for your hair so you don't have to. But if its not cost efficient for you its best to care for your hair at home but you MUST HAVE PATIENCE.

You should never allow your hair to intimidate you. You have to train your hair to do what you want it to, or it will forever be a problem for you. the first step whether you're processed or natural is to find some natural products that work best with your hair. And don't be stingy with the product. especially if you're natural. Curly hair lacks moisture, so whenever it's out you must keep it moisturized. Also, our biggest enemy is heat. if you must use heat, you must keep up with your trims to keep the split ends away. I always recommend that naturals air dry, because over time blow drying your lair loosens up your curl pattern, and there is nothing fun about those straight pieces, which you'll be prone to if your constantly putting heat on your hair. Between blow drys, flat irons, and leaving your hair out for extensions, those straight pieces will be there. We continue to make our hair do what it doesn't want to so it doesn't revert back.

One of the biggest no no's is combing your hair while its dry, and so many of us make this mistake, and it does nothing but tear out your hair. And I don't know about anyone else but I need every strand on my head. You want to go that extra step and always make sure to make your hair damp, and add a leave-in conditioner or moisturizer of some sort to detangle your hair every single time, No exceptions! Even when brushing, I always add water to the area I'm brushing to prevent breakage.
If you're going to relax your hair make sure you're not over processing your hair. A lot of us relax our hair at home and put it all over, even some stylists make this mistake too. you must only relax the new growth, nothing more and nothing less. Your processing hair that has already been relaxed, which weakens the hair even more and causes it to break excessively. And you must keep up with your trims so your hair doesn't thin out.
If you're going natural or are already natural, some of us make the mistake a second time by relaxing our hair and find ourselves right back at square one, getting a big chop and going natural again. But stick to it. You absolutely must work through those tough stages until your hair gets to where you want it to be. So many of us have hair crushes and don't realize the work they put in to get their hair to where it is. there are no shortcuts, and nothing worth it is ever easy remember that. If you feel like you cannot deal with your natural hair just make sure its always in some sort of protective style, and a break every now and then, allowing your hair to be free won't kill you.
Great products, patience, time, and love is all our hair needs!and I promise you will have beautiful healthy hair in the long run so never, ever, ever, give up on your hair! it just needs more love and it will do exactly what you want it to.
